US Missile Defence and the UK - an issue for the General Election

The Missile Defense working group is a network of campaigning and research organisations that are opposed to the development of a Missile Defense system and to any UK involvement in a United States or European Missile Defense system. Reversing the spread of weapons of mass destruction can only be achieved through diplomacy, arms control and progressive disarmament. A Missile Defense system would undermine all three.

We lobby government, raise public awareness and concern, prepare briefings and pamphlets and host events. Note: You may notice that Individual members of the MDWG choose to spell the term "Missile Defense" in different ways. Some choose to use the US spelling - "Defense" - to emphasise the dominant role that the US plays in the system. Others choose to use the British spelling - "Defence" - as the NGOs and the working group operate in the UK. There is no one correct recognised spelling of the term but rest assured, all members are referring to the same thing.
